Biography
Jim Cox is an American screenwriter and producer. He graduated from Evergreen State College in 1975, where he made the satirical short film Eat the Sun, and later worked on Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven (1978) before moving into screenwriting.
Cox wrote the animation screenplays for Disney's Oliver & Company (1988) and The Rescuers Down Under (1990), and the first draft of Beauty and the Beast (1991). He wrote the screenplay for FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992), on which he also served as co-producer, and later contributed to Thru the Moebius Strip (2005) and Jock the Hero Dog (2011). He has been married to producer Penney Finkelman Cox since 1985.
