Biography
Jim Nabors was an American actor and singer. Born in Sylacauga, Alabama, he trained at the University of Alabama before moving to California.
He is best known for playing Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show (1962–1964) and the spin-off series Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964–1969). Nabors also appeared as Deputy Fred in the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), as well as in Stroker Ace (1983) and Cannonball Run II (1984).
After revealing his baritone singing voice, Nabors became a regular on variety shows in the 1960s and 1970s, recorded numerous albums, and hosted The Jim Nabors Hour. He died in 2017.
