Biography
James Sharman (born 12 March 1945) is an Australian director and writer for film and stage. He trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, graduating in 1966, and has directed more than 70 productions.
He created the original stage production of The Rocky Horror Show in London in 1973 and directed and co-wrote the screenplay for its film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). He also directed the 1981 sequel Shock Treatment. In Australia, his theatre work since the 1960s includes productions of Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar.
