Biography
Joachim von Vietinghoff is a German film producer. Born on 8 May 1941 in Munich, he trained as a press photographer at the Institut für Bildjournalismus in Munich from 1959 to 1962 and worked as a photojournalist for the Keystone agency before entering the film industry in the mid-1960s as an assistant and production manager.
In 1969/70 he founded Von Vietinghoff Filmproduktion GmbH, which has produced more than seventy feature, television and documentary films. He is known for his long collaboration with director Béla Tarr on Satantango (1994), Werckmeister Harmonies (2000) and The Man from London (2007). Other notable productions include David (1979) by Peter Lilienthal, which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Von Vietinghoff received the Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse in 2001. He has served on the advisory selection committee for the Berlin International Film Festival and has taught at film schools including the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin.
