Biography
Joe Carnahan is an American film director and screenwriter. He made his feature debut with the low-budget independent film Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane (1998), which screened at the Sundance Film Festival. His subsequent directing credits include the crime thrillers Narc (2002), Smokin' Aces (2006), The A-Team (2010) and The Grey (2011).
Carnahan directed the pilot and other episodes of the NBC series The Blacklist (2013), for which he also received story and teleplay credits. Later feature work includes Boss Level (2021), Copshop (2021) and The Rip (2026), on which he served as director, story writer and screenwriter. He is the brother of screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan.
