Biography
Joe Collins is an American cinematographer and director. He graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication at Arizona State University with a BS in Broadcasting in 1987. He began working in New York as a camera prep technician and joined the International Cinematographers Guild in 1990.
Collins worked as a camera assistant on 1990s feature films including A Bronx Tale, Glengarry Glen Ross, Forrest Gump, Carlito's Way and Shaft, as well as music videos and series such as Spin City, NYPD Blue and Sex and the City. He became a camera operator in 2001 and a director of photography from 2009, with credits on series including Ugly Betty, Royal Pains, City on a Hill (2019–2021), Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022) and Dexter: Resurrection (2025). He has also directed episodes of series including Royal Pains and Instinct.
