Biography
Joe Frisco (born Louis Wilson Joseph) was an American vaudeville performer, dancer and actor. He first gained notice in the 1910s performing with early jazz bands in Chicago and New York, and made his Broadway debut in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1918. He later incorporated his stutter into comedy routines and became a popular vaudeville act.
In the 1940s Frisco moved to Hollywood and appeared in a number of films, often playing himself or small character roles. His final screen appearance was as Herbie Temple in the 1957 film Sweet Smell of Success.
