Biography
Joe Gayton was an American writer, director and producer of film and television. He began his screenwriting career with Uncommon Valor (1983) and went on to write Shout (1991), Bulletproof (1996), The Shepherd: Border Patrol (2008) and Faster (2010). He also directed Mind Ripper (1995) and other features.
Gayton frequently collaborated with his brother Tony Gayton. Together they created the AMC series Hell on Wheels (2011–2016), on which Joe served as co-creator, writer, executive producer and director of one episode. He died on 14 May 2023.
