Biography
Joseph D. Johnston, also credited as Joe Johnston, is an American director, writer and storyboard artist. He began working on the animated series Steven Universe (2013) as a writer and storyboard artist, later becoming supervising director on the series from 2015.
Johnston co-directed Steven Universe: The Movie (2019) with Kat Morris and contributed to the story and writing. He has also directed episodes of Amphibia (2019) and worked as a writer on Steven Universe Future (2019). He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for his contributions to Steven Universe.
