Biography
Johan Valdemar Ankerstjerne (1886–1959) was a Danish cinematographer. He began his career in 1911 at Nordisk Film, where he became the preferred cameraman for director August Blom, working on numerous productions including Atlantis (1913).
Ankerstjerne later collaborated with Benjamin Christensen on films such as Hævnens Nat (1916) and Häxan (1922). He was regarded as Denmark's leading cinematographer in the 1910s and adopted innovative lighting techniques. In 1932 he founded the film laboratory Johan Ankerstjerne A/S, which became a major facility after merging with Nordisk Film Teknik.
