Biography
John A. Russo is an American screenwriter, novelist and film director. He co-wrote the screenplay for the horror film Night of the Living Dead (1968) with George A. Romero. He later provided the story for The Return of the Living Dead (1985) and wrote screenplays and novels for other horror films including The Majorettes (1986).
Russo attended West Virginia University and, after army service, joined the Pittsburgh-based production company The Latent Image, where plans for the feature film were developed. He has written and directed additional films such as Midnight (1982) and Santa Claws (1996), and has published numerous horror novels.
