Biography
John Ericson (sometimes credited as John Erickson; born Joachim Alexander Ottokar Meibes) was a German-American actor. He was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 25 September 1926 and died in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on 3 May 2020.
He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and appeared on Broadway in the original 1951 production of Stalag 17. His film debut came in Teresa (1951), directed by Fred Zinnemann. He appeared in several MGM films in the 1950s, including Rhapsody (1954), Green Fire (1954) and Bad Day at Black Rock (1955), in which he played Pete Wirth.
Ericson’s later career was primarily in television, with guest roles in series such as Bonanza, Knight Rider and Murder, She Wrote, and a co-starring role in Honey West (1965–66). He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
