Biography
John G. Blystone was an American film director who worked primarily in Hollywood. Born on 2 December 1892 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, he directed around 100 films between 1915 and 1938.
He began in the industry at Nestor Studios as a property man before joining Fox Films, where he directed several Tom Mix westerns and other features. His credits include the Buster Keaton comedy Our Hospitality (1923), which he co-directed, as well as Block-Heads (1938) and Swiss Miss (1938).
Blystone died of a heart attack on 6 August 1938 in Los Angeles, California, shortly after completing work on Block-Heads. He was the brother of actor Stanley Blystone.
