Biography
John Junkin (29 January 1930 – 7 March 2006) was an English actor and scriptwriter. Born in Ealing, Middlesex, he trained as a teacher and worked in an East End primary school before turning to comedy writing in the mid-1950s. He joined Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop in 1960 and played the lead in the original stage production of Sparrers Can't Sing.
Junkin appeared in the Beatles film A Hard Day's Night (1964) as Shake, the assistant to the band's manager. He had a long career in radio, television and film, with roles including appearances in The Avengers, Inspector Morse, Coronation Street and Mr. Bean. As a writer he contributed scripts to many British comedy shows, including work for Morecambe and Wise and Marty Feldman.
