Biography
John Lockert was an American film editor active in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. He worked primarily for RKO Radio Pictures, editing features across genres including adventure, horror, comedy and Westerns.
His credits include the adventure film Gunga Din (1939), directed by George Stevens, and two productions by Val Lewton: The Seventh Victim (1943) and The Ghost Ship (1943). Other notable work encompasses High Flyers (1937), The Great Gildersleeve (1942) and Youth Runs Wild (1944). He had earlier credits as an actor and in continuity.
Lockert was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1898 and died in Los Angeles, California, in 1944.
