Biography
John Matysiak is an American cinematographer. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production from Emerson College in Boston and studied at the Czech National Film School (FAMU) in Prague.
Matysiak is known for his work as director of photography on the films Old Henry (2021), Meet Cute (2022), Big George Foreman (2023) and Motor City (2025). He has also served as cinematographer on the second season of the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2023). He first collaborated with director Potsy Ponciroli on the series Still the King in 2016 and has since worked with him on multiple projects.
His earlier credits include Model Minority (2012) and Two Shadows (2012), for which he received a Best Cinematography award at the Los Angeles Asian-Pacific Film Festival. He has also shot music videos for artists including Post Malone and Leon Bridges.
