Biography
John Vernon (1932–2005) was a Canadian actor. Born Adolphus Raymondus Vernon Agopsowicz in Zehner, Saskatchewan, he trained at the Banff School of Fine Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He began his career in Canadian television, including the series Wojeck, before moving to Hollywood.
His United States film debut was as Mal Reese in Point Blank (1967). He later played the Mayor in Dirty Harry (1971) and Fletcher in The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976). Vernon appeared in numerous other films and television series, including voice roles in animation.
