Biography
Jon Alston, also credited as Jon Stone Alston or J. Stone Alston, is an American screenwriter, director and producer. A former professional American football player, he transitioned to film after retiring from the NFL in 2011.
He studied at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and joined the writers’ room for the CW series All American (2018–2020) while still in film school, contributing as a writer and story editor on 18 episodes under the name J. Stone Alston. He later served as executive story editor and writer on 22 episodes of S.W.A.T. (2017).
Alston has written and directed short films including Red Butterfly (2014) and Augustus (2020), the latter of which received multiple festival awards.
