Biography
Jon Ekstrand is a Swedish composer and film sound designer. Born in Tumba, Stockholm, he began his career in sound engineering and design under mentor Owe Svensson. While studying at Stockholm Film School from 1998, he met director Daniel Espinosa; their first collaboration as composer was the 2003 short film The Fighter.
Ekstrand has scored numerous films, often with Espinosa, including the Easy Money trilogy (2010 onwards), Child 44 (2015), Life (2017), Borg vs McEnroe (2017), Queen of Hearts (2019), Horizon Line (2020) and Morbius (2022). He has also composed for television series such as Sebastian Bergman and Farang. His work spans electronic, ambient and orchestral styles, and he received the Robert Award for Best Score for Queen of Hearts.
