Biography
Jon Mirsalis is a composer, pianist and film historian specialising in silent cinema. He has created and performed original scores for silent films for more than forty-five years, both live and on recorded releases.
His recorded scores include those for The Mark of Zorro and The Phantom of the Opera. He is also credited as composer on the 1915 film The Birth of a Nation. Mirsalis has contributed to film preservation, notably by locating the long-lost second reel of Laurel and Hardy’s The Battle of the Century, and is recognised as an authority on the career of Lon Chaney.
