Biography
Jonathan Adams (14 February 1931 – 13 June 2005) was an English actor and visual artist. Born John Adams in Northampton, he trained at Northampton Art College and Chelsea College of Art before turning to acting in 1959, when he adopted the name Jonathan Adams. He continued to work and exhibit as an artist throughout his career.
Adams is best known for creating the role of the Narrator in the original 1973 London production of The Rocky Horror Show and for playing Dr. Everett V. Scott in the 1975 film adaptation The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He appeared in numerous British television productions, including Jesus of Nazareth (1977) as Adam, Bergerac (1981) as Dr. LeJeune, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984) as Jonas Oldacre, and Yes, Prime Minister (1986) as Professor Marriott. He also worked in theatre with companies including the Actor's Company and at the Old Vic. Adams died in London of a stroke.
