Biography

Jonathan Stephen Firth is an English actor. Born on 6 April 1967 in Brentwood, Essex, he trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, making his stage debut as Henry VI in 1994.

Firth is known for roles in British television productions including Fred Vincy in Middlemarch (1994), Sergeant Troy in Far from the Madding Crowd (1998), and Prince Albert in Victoria & Albert (2001). He has also appeared in Wuthering Heights (1992) as Linton Heathcliff, Highlander: The Series (1997) as Lord Byron, and Luther (2003) as Girolamo Aleander, for which he received the 2004 CFT Excellence Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture. He is the younger brother of actor Colin Firth.
