Biography
José Carlos Ruiz is a Mexican actor. He was born on 17 November 1936 in Jerez de García Salinas, Zacatecas, and trained at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura.
Ruiz began his film career in 1965 and has appeared in numerous Mexican films and telenovelas. He is known for roles including Archbishop Óscar Romero in Salvador (1986), Sabino Mercado in Soy tu dueña (2010) and Padre Julián in Wild at Heart (2013). He has also portrayed Benito Juárez in historical telenovelas.
His credits include Major Dundee (1965), María Isabel (1997) and Sortilegio (2009). He is the father of actress Amaranta Ruiz.
