Biography
José Chávez Trowe was a Mexican actor who appeared in more than 300 films, as well as theatre and television productions. He began his career in 1938 with the film Los Millones de Chaflán and became a frequent presence in Mexican cinema and international productions shot in Mexico, often in character roles in westerns and other genres.
His credits include The Wild Bunch (1969) as Juan Jose, Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970) as Horacio, Romancing the Stone (1984) as Santos, and Salvador (1986) as a jail guard. He was married to María del Carmen Benítez and died in Mexico City in 1988.
