Biography
Jose Fernandez, also credited as José I. Fernandez, is a Mexican-American costume designer and sculptor. Born on 13 January 1965 in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, he began working in Hollywood in the late 1980s as a creature sculptor for Rick Baker on films such as Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) and Alien³ (1992).
He received his first costume designer credit on Fantastic Four (2005). In 2007 he founded Ironhead Studio, which has provided specialty costumes and designs for numerous films including entries in the X-Men, Batman and Avengers series. His studio later designed the spacesuits worn by astronauts on SpaceX's first crewed Crew Dragon mission in 2020.
