Biography
Josep Maria Pou is a Catalan actor and theatre director. Born Josep Maria Pou i Serra on 19 November 1944 in Mollet del Vallès, Barcelona, he moved to Madrid at the age of 19 to study at the Escuela de Arte Dramático. He made his professional stage debut in Adolfo Marsillach's production of Marat-Sade.
Pou has built a career centred on theatre, appearing in numerous productions and also directing. His selective film work includes The Sea Inside (2004) as Padre Francisco, Blancanieves (2012) as Don Carlos, The Realm (2018) as Frías and Close Your Eyes (2023) as Ferrán Soler. He has received awards including the Premio Nacional de Teatro, multiple Max Awards and a Sant Jordi de Cinematografía award.
