Biography
Joseph Henabery (1888–1976) was an American actor, screenwriter and director. He began his film career in 1914 and appeared in seventeen films between 1914 and 1917. He is best known for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in D. W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation (1915), on which he also worked as editor and assistant director.
Henabery served as second-unit director on Griffith's Intolerance (1916), in which he also acted. He went on to direct feature films for studios including First National and Paramount, working with stars such as Douglas Fairbanks, Roscoe Arbuckle and Rudolph Valentino. Later credits include shorts for Vitaphone and training films for the US Army Signal Corps.
