Biography
Joseph Pelling, also credited as Joe Pelling, is an English filmmaker, animator, director, writer and composer. He studied fine art and animation at Kingston University, where he met frequent collaborator Becky Sloan. They formed part of the THIS IS IT Collective.
Pelling is best known as co-creator, with Sloan and later Baker Terry, of the surreal puppet web series Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (2011–2016). He directed, wrote, composed for and voiced characters in the shorts and the 2022 Channel 4 television adaptation. He has also contributed music videos, commercials and other animation projects.
In 2017 he wrote the The Amazing World of Gumball episode 'The Puppets'. His other credits include directing, writing and composing for various short films and series.
