Biography
Joshua Pruett is an American television writer and author. Born on 21 March 1978 in Los Angeles, he studied illustration at California State University, Fullerton. He began his career in animation as a storyboard artist and production coordinator on films including Over the Hedge (2006) before moving into writing.
Pruett is known for his work on Disney animated series, serving as a writer and story contributor on Phineas and Ferb (2007–) and Milo Murphy's Law (2016). He wrote for the feature Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe (2020) and contributed to Mystery Science Theater 3000 (2017). He has also written for Stranger Things: Tales from '85 (2026).
Pruett is a Primetime Emmy Award winner and the only writer credited on both Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Doctor Who audio dramas. He has co-authored children's books including the Shipwreckers series with Scott Peterson and entries in the Last Comics on Earth series.
