Biography
Joyce Grey-Carter is a British actor of Jamaican parentage, born in London. She trained at Mountview Theatre School in the early 1980s, gained a BA Hons in Performance Arts from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1988, and completed a PGCE in drama teaching at Goldsmiths College in 1990. After teaching in London secondary and special schools for 28 years, she returned to acting and voiceover work around 2018.
She is known for her role as the Synnaxian Stone Remover in two episodes of the Apple TV+ series Foundation (2021). Other credits include the feature film Preaching to the Perverted (1997) and the role of Carol in Icefall (2025). She has also appeared in numerous short films and has written, directed and produced work including Shielding Sheila (2022).
Grey-Carter has received multiple awards for her acting and filmmaking, including three acting awards in 2021 for the short film The Last Breath and several for Shielding Sheila.
