Biography
József Madaras was a Hungarian actor who appeared in more than 80 films between 1958 and 2006. He was born on 16 August 1937 in Rigmani, Romania, and died on 24 April 2007 in Máriahalom, Hungary.
Madaras was frequently cast in the films of director Miklós Jancsó, including The Round-Up (1966), The Red and the White (1967) as the Hungarian Commander, Silence and Cry (1968) and Red Psalm (1972) as Hegedüs Bálint. He also played Sgt Csupati in the television series Kántor (1976). He worked in several Hungarian theatres and received the Kossuth Prize in 1996.
