Biography
Judi Ann Mason was an American television writer, producer and playwright. She was born on 2 February 1955 in Bossier City, Louisiana, and died on 8 July 2009 in Los Angeles, California. She studied drama at Grambling State University, where her professional writing career began.
While at university she won the Norman Lear Award for comedy writing for her play Livin’ Fat and the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award for A Star Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hole in Heaven. Her television writing credits include episodes of Good Times (1974), Sanford and Son, A Different World (1987), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), I’ll Fly Away, American Gothic (1995) and Generations. She also co-wrote the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993) and taught playwriting and screenwriting at several colleges and universities.
