Biography
Julanne Johnston was an American silent film actress. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she studied dancing and toured with the Ruth St. Denis Dancers, which led to her first screen roles. She was named a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1924.
Johnston is best known for playing the Princess in The Thief of Bagdad (1924). Her other credits include an uncredited role as Justine Devereux in The Big Parade (1925) and appearances in The Scarlet Empress (1934) and Cleopatra (1934). She retired from acting in 1934. She married David W. Rust and later lived in the Detroit area, where she volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Johnston died in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, in 1988.
