Biography
Jules Schermer was an American film and television producer. Born on 15 September 1908 in Jessup, Pennsylvania, he began his career as a writer and film critic for The Hollywood Reporter. He later worked as an associate producer at Paramount before serving during the Second World War as a staff sergeant in the First Motion Picture Unit of the US Army Air Forces.
After the war Schermer produced films for Columbia Pictures and 20th Century Fox, including Framed (1947), The Man from Colorado (1948), Union Station (1950), The Pride of St. Louis (1952), Pickup on South Street (1953) and Pushover (1954). He also co-wrote the story for The Sullivans (1944). He subsequently worked for Warner Bros., where he led their television department for six years, and formed his own company, Judson Productions. His television credits include producing and supervising production on the series Lawman (1958–1962).
Schermer died in Los Angeles on 23 March 1996.
