Biography
Julia Holter is an American composer, singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she studied composition at the University of Michigan and earned an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She is based in Los Angeles and has worked as a faculty member at Occidental College and CalArts.
Holter is known for her film scores, including Bleed for This (2016) and Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020). She has also composed for the British television series Pure (2019) and the documentary Karen Dalton: In My Own Time (2020). In addition to scoring, she releases her own albums and performs internationally.
