Biography
Juliano Mer-Khamis was an Israeli-Palestinian actor, director and political activist. He was born Juliano Khamis on 29 May 1958 in Nazareth, Israel, and died on 4 April 2011 in Jenin, West Bank.
He appeared in films including The Little Drummer Girl (1984), Kippur (2000) as The Captain, and Miral (2010) as Sheikh Saabah. He also directed the documentary Arna's Children (2004). In 2006 he co-founded The Freedom Theatre in the Jenin refugee camp.
Mer-Khamis was assassinated by a masked gunman outside the theatre he had established.
