Biography
Justin Oakey is a Canadian film director, writer and editor from Newfoundland and Labrador. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Studies from Ryerson University.
His directorial work includes the features Riverhead (2016) and A Fire in the Cold Season (2019), followed by Hangashore (2025). As an editor, his credits include The King Tide (2023), Blood for Dust (2023) and Dolly (2025).
Oakey has received awards including the Canadian Cinema Editors Award for Best Editing in a Feature Film for The King Tide, and multiple honours for Hangashore at the Canadian Film Festival.
