Biography
Justin Tan is an American writer and director. He studied at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and began his career in production on the television series The Office (2008–2011). He later created short films and worked as a video creator at BuzzFeed following a 2014 fellowship.
Tan is known for his work on the ABC series Abbott Elementary (2021–), where he has served as staff writer, story editor, executive story editor and director of several episodes, including “Valentine’s Day” and “Gregory’s Garden Goofballs”. He has collaborated frequently with series creator Quinta Brunson, a long-time friend. He is also developing the comedy film Par for the Course.
Tan received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his contributions to Abbott Elementary.
