Biography
K.J. Steinberg is an American television writer and producer. She was born on 28 June 1973 in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, and is the sister of writer and producer Hank Steinberg.
She began her writing career on series including Judging Amy and later co-created The Nine (2006) with her brother. Steinberg adapted the British series Mistresses for American television, serving as writer and executive producer on the ABC drama from 2013 to 2016. She wrote nine episodes of This Is Us (2016–2022) and worked as co-executive producer and executive producer on the NBC series.
Steinberg created, wrote and executive produced the 2025 Hulu limited series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Her work on This Is Us earned four Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series.
