Biography
Kamal Abul Ela (also credited as Kamal Abou-El-Ella and كمال أبو العلا) was an Egyptian film editor and director. He edited Youssef Chahine's Cairo Station (1958) and Shadi Abdel Salam's The Night of Counting the Years (1969, also known as The Mummy), as well as The Blazing Sun (1954).
Born in Amrous, Monufeya governorate, he studied commerce before training in cinema and television at Boston University. He later taught film editing at the High Institute of Cinema in Cairo and contributed to the establishment of Kuwaiti television. He died in Cairo in 2008.
