Biography
Karl Wellert is a German cinematographer born on 5 February 1902 in Görlitz. He began working in the camera department during the silent era, with credits on films including Wildnis (1922), Die Küsse der Ira Toscari (1922), Die rollende Kugel (1927), Das Schicksal einer Nacht (1927) and Wanderung durch die Arbeit des Vaterländischen Frauenvereins vom Roten Kreuz (1928).
Wellert served as a camera operator on Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will (1935), one of a large team filming the 1934 Nuremberg Rally.
Later credits include camera work on Die sieben Kleider der Katrin (1954) and television productions, as well as directing Dr. Hardings Tagebuch (1952).
