Biography
Karla Castañeda is a Mexican stop-motion animator and director. She studied communication sciences at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) in Guadalajara and painting and illustration at the Facultad de Bellas Artes de Pontevedra in Spain.
Castañeda directed the award-winning short films Jacinta (2008) and La Noria (2012), both recipients of Ariel Awards for best animated short. She contributed to production design and art direction on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) at the Guadalajara studio and has collaborated with del Toro on other projects.
