Biography
Kate Hennig is a Canadian actress and playwright. She trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and has performed extensively in classical and contemporary theatre, including seasons at the Stratford Festival and the Shaw Festival, as well as with the Royal Shakespeare Company and on Broadway.
Her screen credits include the role of Chambermaid in Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993), for which she received a Genie Award nomination, Sophie in Mrs. Winterbourne (1996), Vauneen in The Claim (2000), and Rachel Lynde in the 2016 television adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. She has also appeared in series such as Bomb Girls, Saving Hope and Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.
As a playwright, Hennig has written The Last Wife, The Virgin Trial and Mother's Daughter. She has received two Dora Mavor Moore Awards and was shortlisted for a Governor General's Award for English-language drama. She served as associate artistic director of the Shaw Festival from 2017 to 2020.
