Biography

Kate Hewitt is a British television and theatre director. She began her career in theatre, directing productions including Plenty at Chichester Festival Theatre (nominated for Best Play Revival at the UK Theatre Awards 2019), Jesus Hopped the A Train at the Young Vic, and Cock at Minerva Chichester Festival Theatre. She has also worked as an associate director on shows such as Yerma (Young Vic) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Drury Lane).

In television, Hewitt directed three episodes of the BBC drama series Life (2020), written by Mike Bartlett. She went on to direct episodes 4, 5 and 6 of the Netflix adaptation One Day (2024). She served as series director on the ITV miniseries Playing Nice (2025) and as associate producer on that production. Upcoming work includes directing episodes of The Husbands for A24 and Apple TV+.

Hewitt received the JMK Directors Award in 2014 and the RTST Award (now the Sir Peter Hall Award) in 2017.
