Biography
Kate Torgovnick May is a writer for television and a former journalist. She began her career writing for publications including Jane Magazine, The New York Times and The Atlantic, and is the author of the narrative nonfiction book CHEER! Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders.
Her book provided the inspiration for the CW series Hellcats (2010–2011), on which she served as a consulting producer (credited as Kate Torgovnick) and contributed writing. She later worked as a staff writer on NCIS (2019–2020), penning episodes including “Musical Chairs” and “Schooled”. She has also held roles at TED Talks and developed other projects for television and audio.
