Biography
Kathleen Ryan (1922–1985) was an Irish actress. She made her screen debut as Kathleen Sullivan in Carol Reed's Odd Man Out (1947), opposite James Mason. Her other early roles included appearances in Captain Boycott (1947) and the American production The Sound of Fury (1950).
Ryan performed in theatre with the Dublin Abbey Players and at the Gate Theatre before entering films. Between 1947 and 1957 she appeared in around a dozen British and Hollywood features, working with actors including Rock Hudson, Dirk Bogarde and Stewart Granger. She was married to Dermod Devane from 1944; the marriage was annulled in 1958. A 1941 portrait of her by Louis le Brocquy, 'Girl in White', is held in a museum collection.
