Biography
Kathy Westmoreland is an American singer. Born on 10 August 1945 in Texarkana, Arkansas, she grew up in Abilene, Texas, and moved to California in 1962. She performed in musical comedy with Steve Martin, sang with the Metropolitan Opera National Company, joined The Sandpipers, and worked as a studio session singer before 1970.
From August 1970 until Elvis Presley’s death in 1977, Westmoreland served as his high soprano backing vocalist on tour, in the studio and on television specials including Elvis on Tour (1972) and Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii (1973). Presley introduced her onstage as “the little girl with the beautiful high voice.” She sang at his funeral. In 1987 she published the memoir Elvis and Kathy.
