Biography
Katrin Aschendorf is a German costume designer born in Hamburg. She trained in costume work at the theatre, including at the Kulturzentrum Kampnagel in Hamburg, and began in wardrobe and assistant roles in the 1990s before taking on full costume design credits on television episodes and films from the early 2000s.
She is best known for her long collaboration with director Fatih Akin, beginning with Head-On (2004, also known as Gegen die Wand). Subsequent credits with him include The Edge of Heaven (2007), Soul Kitchen (2009), In the Fade (2017) and Rhinegold (2022). Other notable film work includes Kebab Connection (2004), The Door (2009), The Cut (2014) and The Golden Glove (2019).
Aschendorf has received Deutscher Filmpreis nominations for best costume design on The Cut and The Golden Glove. She has also designed costumes for numerous television productions and stage works.
