Biography
Kaz Firpo is an American screenwriter, director and photographer. Born Matthew Kazuo Firpo on 14 August 1990 in San Francisco, California, he graduated in 2012 from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He was previously known professionally as Matt Firpo and changed his public name to Kaz Firpo before the release of Eternals.
With his cousin Ryan Firpo he received story credit on the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals (2021) and shared screenplay credit with Chloé Zhao and Patrick Burleigh. His debut documentary Refuge (2017) premiered at SXSW and won Best Documentary at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. His debut screenplay Ruin topped the 2017 Black List. In 2016 he was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.
