Biography
Kevin Murphy is an American screenwriter, television producer, lyricist and composer. He began his television career writing for series including Big Brother Jake, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Weird Science and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show. He later worked on Ed, Reaper and Caprica.
From 2004 to 2007 he served as head writer and co-executive producer on Desperate Housewives. He wrote the book and lyrics for the stage musical Reefer Madness and co-wrote its 2005 television adaptation, for which he and Dan Studney won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. He also co-wrote the book and lyrics for the stage musical Heathers: The Musical.
Murphy graduated from Drew University. Other credits include creating Valentine and Hellcats, and writing for Defiance and The Son.
